Default 1998 Dakota Loss of Power

Have a 1998 Dakota with the 3.9L V6, automatic transmission. 2WD.

Was driving at highway speeds when I suddenly lost power. Was barely able to limp the truck back home.

Put the code reader on and it read P300, P301 as pending and P305.

P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0301 Cylinder #1 Misfire Detected
P0305 Cylinder #5 Misfire Detected

Changed the distributor cap, rotor and wires about a year ago. Changed the distributor cap again along with the rotor. No change.
Replaced the canister purge solenoid, no change.
Replaced the entire fuel pump/sending unit assembly (PITA!), no change.

Thought that perhaps the transmission was holding to high of a gear, so I put it in first and stomped it. Going up a hill, the engine gets to about 2500-3000 rpm and that's it. Very little power.

I didn't get a chance to drive it around long enough today to get the truck to throw a code, that will be my mission in the next couple of days.

I'm at a loss. What can this be?

Welcome to the forum.

How are the plugs?
Check for vacuum leaks? Do you have a vacuum gauge?

Also a loss of power sometimes is a plugged cat.

A vacuum gauge can tell you about the cat too.
