1997 Dakota manual trans, 5.2l
I broke the casing of the transfer case and lost fluid. So i need to get another transfer case. The wrecker say only 96-97 will fit. Nothing is available here. So what are my options?
Will a different year fit? What mods would I have to do?
Will a Ram 1500 manual trans fit. What mods?
Or a auto trans? What mods?

 

Yes one out of a ram will work. I haveone for 97 ram in my 2000 dakota the only difference might be the speed sensor on the tc. Idk how 97-99 is but my 2000 the speed is read from the trans instead of the tcase

 

I bought a 5 speed trans from a '97 Dakota 4x4, 5.2l, and the person I bought it from had been using it with a 2000 Ram t-case. Neither the '97 trans or the '00 t-case had an output for a speed sensor, but I think those years had the speed sensor in the rear axle, so yes, the t-case should work.

 

Didn’t really see any good info did you ever figure out if the 97 Dakota is the only thing that will interchange with the 97 Dakota lol?
