Hello everyone, I just bought my first Dakota, a 2002 sxt with 146 xxx miles. It came with a 3.9 and a 5 speed, currently i'm working to get it to pass safety. The 3.9 runs strong and I do not plan on doing this swap right away but I was curious to see if it was possible. Would I run into any issues since the 2002 Dakotas didn't come with 5.2? Would I have to use the harness and pcm off a 5.9 to get it to run without throwing codes? Or will just any harness off a second gen 5.2 work? Aside from that, what else would I need to do to drop in a 5.2? Are the motor mounts shared between all the magnum series engines? Also how hard is it to swap instrument clusters? i'm from Canada and my cluster is in miles, its now a huge deal... more of an inconvenience. I can get a cluster for cheap but is as easy as pulling the old one out and putting the new one in? Looking for any help I can get,
