Default Shaft Slap - Front

This doesn't seem right to me.

I'm trying to diagnose the "whirrrrrr" noise I'm hearing when driving.
It's hard to pinpoint sitting in the cab.

I've got some leakage out of the transfer case, but the fluids right up to the top plug.

This shaft was replaced a little over a year ago. Poorly in fact. Two of the allen key bolts were gone, so I got a new full set and installed with LocTite.

Hopefully you can all see the video. It's short. Seems awful sloppy to me but I don't know what normal is.

My adblocker is telling me the URL is found in malware domains?

It's just a link to a public folder in my OneDrive. Where should I upload so it shows up easily?

That worked. The rotational slop really isn't unexpected. You are taking up ALL the slop in the diff there as well. If it moves up and down/side to side at all, you need to find out where that slop is coming from, and fix it.

No, I've got nothing front to back or side to side. (original video's a lot longer, I reefed on it every which way)

I'm still not pinpointing the whirring noise. It's a new noise.
Rear diff is full, Transfer case full, haven't checked front diff.

I want to add that prior to this noise appearing, I'd stopped at great canadian oil change (fast lube shop) and they changed the oil, topped up the transfer case, and checked the rear diff. They put some kind of additive in the transfer case. XM5 they called it. Supposed to help with the seeping seal.

I then hooked up to the holiday trailer and we proceeded to put about 1600 km on it. Noticed the noise about halfway through.
At home now with a couple days of holiday left, I thought I'd try to track down the source.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Trucks got just over 220,000k on it.

check front diff fluid. Put truck up on a jack and see if you can feel the front shaft binding any.

Also pull the torque converter dust cover and check for loose converter bolts. 3/4 or 13/16 socket.

Okay, first I jacked up the rear end with the floor jack under the diff, blocked the axle and ran the truck. Noise got progressively louder as I geared up. VERY noticeable in 3rd gear. Using a broomstick I listened to both the rear diff and the transfer case. Both sounded pretty equal in volume, but there seemed to be more variety of noises coming from the case, and being that it was low on fluid when I took it in for lube, and has a seeping seal, I tend to suspect the origin to be the T-case, transferring to the diff through the driveshaft.

This is where I take off the coveralls and put down my wrench. I think I need a real mechanic now.

Does the noise change if you put it in 4 wheel drive?
