Default Loud clicking when in drive

I have a 2004 Dakota 3.7 v. 6 extended cab, automatic. When in drive or reverse I get a loud clicking noise. As car warms up noise diminishes or goes away. Can't figure it out. Any ideas it seems like it's coming from engine or trani and not from one of the wheels. Any thoughts would help
