Dad has a 02 dakota and the **** to switch from 4wd to 2wd won't work on the truck. You can use a 5/8ths wrench on the transfer case that will switch it back and forth but looking to fix to get rid of. What all is is involved between the **** and the transfer case that could be issue and how difficult is the fix. Just want an idea before diving into it tearing it all apart.

It's all electronic. The switch is for the transfer case control module. It actuates the motor that switches modes.

Have you checked all fuses?

The system can be scanned for codes with the correct reader.

 

There was no check engine light on or anything so i did not think it would be thowing any codes
