Default transmission filter(s)?

Read somewhere at one time that there are 2 filters in some Dodge transmissions. The flat style and a small canister type of some sort. Question-Are there 2 in the tranny of a V/6 Dakota? The guy at Speedlube says he's done the T-tech on several and has only encountered one filter in them. It's a 2001 and I'm switching to synthetic.

I don't think there are two filters in the transmission, just two different types. Call a Dodge service department and give them your VIN number, they should be able to tell you what type of transmission you have and which filter you need.

My 02 quad cab 4.7L V8 with the 45RFE Auto trans has two (2) filters. 1 flat and 1 round. Call the dealer and find out for sure.

Dealer says 2001 42RE one filter. Also said 2-were used in trannys following the 42RE. I guess the 42RE was still a variant of the Greatest automatic of all time the Torqueflite.
