Default 2000 Dakota 4x4 question?

I have a 2000 Dakota Quad cab 4x4 with a 4.7 V-8 engine,it has 110K miles on it..The truck has been well kept and oil changes have been done on or before schudule. There is no sign of moisture AT ALL on the oil dipstick,it is very CLEAR,the truck does'nt use a drop of oil either..My anit freeze is always at the same level every time I check it,and there is no moisture coming from the tail pipe.

My question? The last time I changed the oil and took off my oil filler cap,the entire inside of the oil filler tube was a milky YELLOWish in color..I cleaned this yellow up real good from the filler tube on my last oil change..Yesterday,I went 250 miles to my in-laws for Thanksgiving and checked the oil today. It was perfectly full and very clean in color.HOWEVER,out of curiosity,I also took off the oil filler cap today when I checked the oil,and once again,it was completely engolfed in the same milky yellow color it was before I cleaned it last time.I changed the PCV valve about a week ago and also made sure it was working correctly [sucking] when I installed it.About 5K miles ago,the dealership installed a completely new set of timing gears and sprockets.

I am COMPLETELY lost on this one.No loose of anti freeze, the oil is completely clean, and the truck performs great..Anybody have any idea's as to what is causing this filler tube to be a milky yellow?

Thanks for your help,im LOST!

I have the exact same truck and had the exact same goo in my oil filler. I was worried as well but when I cleaned it out it didn't come back, perplexing indeed. Maybe your oil filler cap doesn't seal and condensation builds up? Annoying whatever it is but I'm sure it's not serious. Now I have a question for you.......where is the PCV valve and how does it install? I got one from my parts store and they swear it's the right one (it has threads on it like it screws in somewhere) but I can't find it on the motor. Did they give me the wrong one???????????

classic signs of a blown headgasket your mixing water/coolant into your oil. it didnt get there by condinsation getting past your oil cap sorry. with 110,000 on it that is rather high millage. have you ever overheated it? also somthing to think about dont let it go to far water and crank berrings dont mix. get it looked at by your local mechanic

He said the dipstick was fine - no water in the oil. It's just condensation inside the valve cover - it'll burn off when the engine gets to temp again, which is why the other poster's was fine from then on.

It's possible that it's the start of a problem though, get a hydrocarbon test done on the coolant to see if there's a HG leak if you're so inclined.

This is an unfortunate trait of the 4.7L engine. I hate to say it's "normal", but it's a common issue with no real resolution from Dodge.
It's emulsified oil, caused by the nice, hot oily vapors being pulled into the filler area on its way to the intake manifold via the PCV valve. The PCV valve is attached to the outboard side of the filler. This hot vapor gets to the filler, kept relatively cool by air being moved over and around it by the radiator fan, and it creates this yellowish goo in the filler neck.
Short trips in cool weather will really cause it to build up. Some folks have had good results using synthetic oils.

Absolutely NO sign of condensation on my dipstick, nothing but perfectly clean looking oil,and there is no increase in fluid level on my dipstick either,so im doubting that its a head gasket.

Im running a synthetic blend.Nest time I change it,I'll switch over to fully synthetic..How many miles are you guys running between oil changes with fully synthetic oil?

I'm still doing 3k changes simply because the filter is still getting clogged up with 45k miles worth of dino oil goo prior to me buying it.
