Default Noise in front

I have an 04 Dakota 4 x 4 with the 4.7L. There is a noise i the front but I can't figure our what is causing it. It is NOT a constant hum like a bearing, it more like a thump, thump, thump. Its a slow thump at slow speed and a fast thump at higher speeds. It doesn't change when cornering. Does anyone have an idea what it might be.

Thanks

Moved to the correct section. Check the tires. Swap backs with fronts and see if the noise follows. Also check the CV joints and axles. Welcome to the forum.

Thump thump that follows the speed sounds like a band broke in one of your tires causing it to be out of round. Highway speed if bad enough, will make the front end shake, unless you have good suspension. Test swapping it to the back, make sure to look them over very good when they're off. If they have a lump, don't drive far, go right to the tire store. Might be good to have them check it out for free balance if your place offers that.

Check the front propeller shaft joints.

Default Mine is doing same

From driver side crawl under and locate your front drive shaft. Grab on to it and try to turn it back and forth. See if it has any play. If it does, I'll bet the noise it makes will be the sound you're hearing.
