Default Plausible 1st to 2nd gen swap?

Someone wanted me to drop the question on here for some general information of possibility and requirements for an engine swap.

They have a 1994 Dodge Dakota SLT 5.2 Magnum, it had a new motor put in about ten years ago and has about 30k on it. However, the body is in fairly bad shape, water damage inside from a broken rear window is causing all sorts of electrical oddities, even the main trunk line to the dash the pins are a ball of corrosion.

So his question is, would the 5.2 drop into a 2nd gen body without requiring much effort? I figured it should be wired about the same just have to change the intake as the circular breather wouldn't fit.

Second question: What would be required if the destination vehicle was a 3.9 v6? What would need to be changed or added to drop in the 5.2.

He's currently on the hunt for a truck with a blown motor for cheap and wanted to get the 2nd gen as they withstand a bit better on body rust. Sadly missed a chance, found a near perfect with a blown head gasket for $800, just didn't have it at the time.

I am going to answer what I believe is correct, but hopefully, there are others with more experience that will know more, and they will chime in.

For starters, the basic, 94, 5.2 is the same. But I believe you need to use the newer trucks sensors, wiring harness, etc. You are going from the OBD1 system to a OBD2
Its my understanding, you can use a v6 wiring harness on a v8 by adding the 2 additional injector wires.
Also, you will need the correct v8 computer, fan shroud, and probably some other stuff
But motor mounts, sensors etc accessory drives, etc will transfer over from the v6 to the v8.
The v6 is actually a v8 cut off.

One concern I do have, is the injector size, (lbs) the same from the 94 engine vs the newer truck. If that is different, you may have to buy at least 2 of the newer injectors if you go to a newer v6 truck.

Oh, and all of this is assuming you are looking at a 3.9-5.2-5.9 platform and not a 3.7-4.7

Hope this helps
