Default 1997 dodge dakota

I have a 1997 dodge dakota with 3.92 gears and I was wondering if I can put a rear that has 3.55 gears in

Sure you can. But if you are 4x4 you would need to do both differentials.

It's not 4x4 all the time I have to lock it in

Still need gears to match. Elsewise you'll have both axles fighting eachother in 4wd
