Dodge 5.2 fuel pressure issue
I am about to do the Hughes plenum fix on my 1999 Dakota. To be safe, I got new injector o rings, and plan on cleaning the injectors while they're out.
I've had a problem ever since I've owned the truck with a hard start, due to lack of fuel pressure. If you cycle the key on/off 3 times it starts right up. I have not had a pressure tester on it, but this seems to be a common issue.
While I have the fuel stuff apart to pull the intake, is there a fuel check valve I can replace? Or is that in the tank with the pump?
ALSO, since I remember hearing somewhere that it IS in the tank...could I just splice in a check valve somewhere in the system? Someone on another forum has done it and fixed the same issue, but since I depend on this thing in the middle of nowhere, I don't want any janky fixes...
Thanks, any info is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, check valve is part of the regulator assembly, on the fuel pump module. Installing an additional check valve is kinda hit or miss.... you are introducing an additional restriction there.... not something I would want to do. (just personal preference here....)
Put a pressure gauge on it, and see what it has to say. Low fuel pressure will give you a long crank issue.
