Default @003 4.7 replacement

Hi. I have a 2003 4wd Dakota with a 4.7, CA vehicle that needs an engine replacement. May I replace this with ANY 4.7 from a 2000-2004 Dodge?

No. 2000 to 2002 are incompatiable, you can only use a 4.7 from 2003 or later...might also be limits on that (2003-2005 seems to be a window in my mind for some reason)

Thanks. So a 4.7 from a 2003 1500 Ram, which I have access to, should work in the 2003 Dakota?

You'll have to switch the oil pans and exhaust. Intake should be the same.
