Squeaking behind steering wheel?
Hey guys, I tried finding in the forum an answer to this question but no one seems to be having the symptoms I have. My steering wheel, or what appears to be behind the steering wheel is making a weird squeaking sound. It's random, so sometimes I hear it sometimes I don't. I happens whether the car is driving, or in park. The steering wheel doesn't have to be turned for it to make the sound, it will do it if the car is on and sitting still. The squeak stops when I open the door, sometimes I'll hear the squeak with the door is open but normally opening the door stops the squeak. Also, if I press the brakes harder while stopped the squeaking stops. Another way that it stops is by applying pressure up or down on the steering wheel or column. None of these really sound like they are related so I was hoping maybe I'd get some ideas here. I do need tie rods switched, but I don't believe this will make a squeaking sound that stops by putting pressure on the steering column. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
