Hey guys how can you tell if the oil pump is goin bad

Consistently low oil pressure. Of course, that could be a plugged pickup tube too.... What makes you think your pump is going out?

The oil gauge keeps creeping down to the low level mark and i just did an oil change so i know the oil level is good

The usual culprit is the oil pressure sender. What year/engine do you have?

Its for my 02 dodge dakota with over 200,000 miles with a 4.7 engine

Put a mechanical gauge on it, and see what pressure is really doing. Go from there.

The sender is located just above the oil filter.
