Default Please Help!

I have a 2001 dakota which i am attempting to install a new radio in. Unfortunatly I've been tryin for many days to find a wiring diagram, and ive come up with nothing. I already have the power wires hooked up so the new unit turns on but i cant get sound. 8^( so if someone could lable the speaker wires by color and tell me what the purple wire with the yellow stripe is i would Greatly Appreciate it. Thank You

It would make it much easier if you went to Best Buy or Curcuit City or wherever you go for audio stuff and get a wiring harness adapter. Makes installationa a breeze. They run like 10 bucks I think. Just a suggestion. Without a wiring diagram if you still wanted to wire it that way you could get a volt meter and check each wire to each speaker but that would take a while. You could also take a battery to the positive and negative of each speaker and listen for a noise through the speaker and that will let you know which one is which. But the easiest thing to do would be just to pick up the adapter. Good luck bro.

I had a feeling thats what you did. How close to the plug did you cut it? You could always solder it back together. Hope you get it figured out man.

the wire you are looking for is only on the high premium version of the premium radio i have the same thing it connects into the central timing module, without it hooked up it causes me several electrical problems, know one has been able to help me with it

For starters, you could try here Dak Stereo Removal

Also, if you have the Infinity system....chances are that remaining wire is the Pre-Amp for the speakers. I did the same thing when I did my install on my 01 Dak. I had everything hooked up and had one spare wire. It said something like power antenna and I didnt have one. Come to find out....that was supposed to be hooked up to the pre-amp. Spent $40 bucks to watch them hook up one damn wire. It sucked.

This picture is straight from Crutchfield, so I know its accurate. It's the Dodge wiring harness kit you buy for the aftermarket radios.

This is an actual wiring schematic I found on a website.... might help out too...save it to your computer and open it....as its not showing its full size on here..

Time youngster to buy a Hayne's Manual on your truck. It has the wiring harness diagrams in it and it's color coded. They run about $20.
