I let my truck idle while I went into the house for a minute and when I came out there was smoke between the manifolds and I figured it was simply some bits of sticks and brush I saw that had gotten up in there from the orchard, so I knocked them off with a screwdriver, then scraped a little crap off around the middle of the engine right by cylinder #3, including a small "hole" ; bad move--it started spraying steam! It doesn't look like a freeze plug, even though scraping crap off a plug might cause an old one to leak so that's logical. Is it a 14mm plug? My manual doesn't show what it is.
Possibly related: I checked my oil and it shows overfilled but no foam or gas smell. Need some major work on this old horse.

You may have poked a hole in the head freeze plug they are small.

 

That's it--perfect! Right smack in the middle of the head. Thanks 110% for the pic'. Now to carefully remove & replace that little sucker--at least it's in the easiest to access place on the engine. Next: figure out why my dipstick shows overfilled but doesn't indicate that it's fuel or coolant.

Too much oil? Not on my watch. :-) So, I put some super glue gel over the freeze plug hole--so far so good; another Bubba fix that may last for years....it worked on my dental appliance.....
