Default Switch to synthetic now truck smokes!

Hey everyone! Well got that darn electrical gremlin figured out, it was the transmission computer mounted on the passenger side by the radiator. Absolutely couldn't believe that especially when that wasn't throwing any codes!
Anyway, i just changed my oil 3 days ago from the 10w30 conventional that the previous owner had been using basically the entire life of the truck to a 10w30 High Mileage semi-synthetic.
I've noticed now it smokes when i start it up and under hard acceleration.
I've also noticed a slight tick from the engine and my oil pressure isn't as high.
Should i let the engine get used to the synthetic or go back to the conventional oil? Thank You!

Stay with conventional or you’ll most likely start leaking oil as well.

You've probably got leaky valve cover gaskets dripping onto the manifolds and the synthetics don't help that. Try tweaking all the valve cover bolts half a turn, or change them outright, if you can confirm the leak.

Been running 0W-20 for years now. Will not run conventional in a 4.7 anymore as that stuff tends to coagulate. With full syn, the oil cap no longer collects that yellow crap on it anymore, so that tells me something. Also silences the lifters faster on cold start.

Im not sure what the factory recommend oil is, conventional or synthetic? Anyway, this semi-synthetic oil hasn't impressed me one bit! Should i change it ASAP or wait for my scheduled change?

Recommended factory fill was 5w-30, but dealerships switch to 5W20 as standard fill for all 4.7L, years ago. Later model 4.7L (2005 etc) switched to 5W20 as specified in the manual. I use 0W as it flows faster on cold start and ends up the same 20 weight when hot. Oil technology has improved much since early 2000s.

Was the factory recommend oil synthetic ?
i have noticed any seeping from the valve covers or smoke coming from under the hood but i will definitely check the tightness of the bolts .

Synthetic vs conventional was never specified, only the weight. I'd leave the synthetic in and check the oil weekly, topping off as needed. See if things change.

Okay im going back to conventional then, synthetic just doesn't agree with my truck or vice versa Lol. The ticking noise and loss of oil pressure really has me concerned .
