Hello again...
2000 Dakota 2wd auto v6.
Trying to get ac to work. I know it is cold, but not that cold. It did not work when I bought it. PO told me it probably needs to be charged, etc.
The compressor does not come on at all.
i have done the following.
Replaced coolant hose from t-stat housing to overflow tank. It had a big hole in it from rubbing on ps pump. I also re routed the hose. I plugged the electric fan on radiator back in, and it's working fine. (The heater works good now.) ( the temp is more where it should be too) No idea if the electric fan needs to be working for the ac to work, or if that fan is for towing, or why it's there. It does come on after the truck has been idling for a while.
I was looking for a fuse for the a.c., but the box under the hood does not specify any a.c. fuses. Anyone know which I should be looking for?

The electric fan should start as the AC is turned on it will also run if the coolant temp hits 210.
You could just try pumping in some Freon in the system and see if the AC kicks in if it quits after some time you have a leak.
AC work is usually not too expensive just have a shop test it.

Time to upgrade. 
Fill those buggers with R290 propane. Joking aside, the pressure switches keep the compressor from turning on and potentially destroying it when the pressure is too low or too high. Get some gauges, even those cheap gauges that come with refills, and see what it says.

I realize that, but then some noob will go to a parts store and ask to buy freon, then get confused when told it is no longer sold....
