TCCM? Switch? Encoder motor?
Howdy all,
I'm having a 4x4 issue with my Dakota that may or may not be related to the windshield wipers going out (doubt it). I started my truck after a snow storm and didn't realize that my wipers were on. The wiper motor started blowing fuses and I'm waiting on a new motor to arrive in the mail to verify that this is the cause of the issue. My next move was to try to switch the truck into 4 hi to move the truck into the driveway, but lucky me, it wouldn't switch. The green 2wd light stays illuminated and the orange 4hi light constantly blinks. I've read some of the other forums related to TCCM/switch/encoder motor and from what I've seen, lots of folks report that their indicator lights don't work. In my case, the lights do seem to work. My question is if the lights are working, does this rule out the switch and TCCM being the culprit and suggest that the encoder motor is bad? From what I understand, the TCCM tells the encoder motor to move positions, and after the switch happens the motor tells the TCCM "hey, I moved my **** into place, finish your job." The TCCM then tells the 4hi indicator light to be constantly illuminated.
Could this have anything to do with the wiper motor going bad (probably not) and the fact that there isn't a fuse in there now?
Thanks in advance!
