Default clockspring

So I am thinking about removing my 4-wire electrical coil cord and running the shifter paddles through the clockspring. To do it, I need a clockspring and harness for both cruise and radio buttons. The high and low switches are tied to ground with two feed wires, I am pulling ground from the cruise connection right now.

I am thinking to bring upshift through the cruise signal line and downshift through the radio signal line (clipping the wires in the column). But because clocksprings are delicate and a dual function was a rare option, does a replacement clockspring even exist with both connections?

I imagine I'd have to go junkyard hunting for the column side pigtail for the radio side, or is it already in the harness?

I'd still need the coil cord for the transbrake, but at least that I could unplug and set aside.

Not sure on your '01 but my '00 did not have the radio side harness. It did have the cruise harness.

Were you able to source the radio side pigtail?

I had a second thought, but it's a little more tricky/not so failsafe.

The paddle shifter only looks for a signal to ground. The cruise buttons are a 2-wire interface through the clockspring. I could clip the 2 wires at the bottom of the column for the input, and use the steering wheel itself for the ground, just like the horn does.

No. The boneyards around here did not have the pigtail.

I think your idea will work.
