Not to be a buzzkill here, and feel free to ignore, but you only _think_ you have 2K for mods if you plan on driving this thing regularly. You just bought a rusty, almost 20 year old truck with over 250K miles on it, chocked full of components that are at, or far past end-of-life is. I'm a big fan of my truck, but realistically, basic maintenance, and couple completely normal and expected (at that mileage) component failures is going to have you over $2k just to keep it on the road. Sorry for the "dad-advice".

Buzzkill? Perhaps. Accurate? Definitely.
