vague question. CC uses a TON of circuits. What, exactly and in as many words as possible, is it doing, when is it doing it, and do any indicators change on the dash?

Nothing happens at all. Push button on the steering wheel and no light comes on dash. Absolutely nothing happens. PS there was minor front end damage from collision. Are there sensors up front I can't see??

Does the horn work?
Is the air bag light on?
If either (or both) is the case, the clockspring is broken

If you rapid fire press the cruise on/off button, does the dash indicator come on?
If yes, then the button is worn out. Seek replacement from junkyard.

If both of those prove false, then it could still be a faulty button, or the wiring could be unplugged under the horn, or the PCM has been replaced with a unit that is not cruise-enabled (particularly if reman).

There is an instrument cluster self test, but I do not recall if the cruise light is illuminated during that test. Common sense says yes, historical knowledge of these trucks makes me have a shadow of a doubt.
