4.7 manual to 5.2 swap
I'm looking at picking up an 04 dakota 4x4, 4.7l with a manual transmission. The body is rusted out, and the guy wants chump change for the truck. The motor has a new home in a friend's '00, but he wants to keep his auto, so I'm left with a 5.2l that has a leaky transmission, and I've been wanting a manual for a while now.
Some searching has told me that the transfer cases use different input shafts between the automatic and the manual transmissions. I would just use the transfer case from the 4.7 and swap drive shafts around to make everything fit, but the pushbutton activation is not working in the 4.7.
Can anyone confirm any differences between a transfer case from a 4.7l manual to a 5.2l auto?
