Harness replacement 01 dakota 4x4
So I'm replacing the burnt harness on my 01 and in trying to get all the connectors removed. I have most of the sensors pulled but how do I free the transfer case connector? Everything else seems reasonable except the melted o2 sensor. I guess I should clarify, the one next to the front propeller shaft

I don't have a 4x4 so i don't know how that specific sensor is designed; Does it not have the red safety clip (or maybe it's broken off inside?) under the pull tab? I can't imagine it being threaded or anything.
There is a 6 wire "Mode Sensor" and a 2 wire "Shift Motor" connector.
Do you have the NV233 part-time electronic case, or the NV244 full-time AWD case?
Based on my FSM, it looks like the 6 wire mode sensor is the one next to the front output shaft for both transfercases. But there's no notes on how to replace it in either.

Yes it's the 6pin. It looks like it has a diff locking tang. Also how does one get the main harness off the back of the block? Something is holding me up from pullibg the entire length into yhe engine compartment Is there grounds or something holding it to the back of the block?
Not sure how to pop that one out then.
And yes, there are several grounds in the back, and the O2 downstream cabling is pinched (almost literally) between the trans and the floor pan. When I did the trans swap, I fixed that SNAFU. I had to drop the tailshaft down to pull the sensor wiring to wher eI could get it.
You should have 4 O2 sensor connections, one transmission connector, two transfercase connections down there. There's a ground on the back of each cylinder head and another 2 (maybe 3) on the firewall. I don't remember which ones are attached to the harness and which are loose. Then you'll have the ABS connector, the body/chassis connector, the PDC connectors, horn, 8 coils, 8 fuel injectors, water temp, air temp, throttle position, MAP, IAC, AC compressor, power steering pressure (if equipped, it hopscotched years), cruise control, driver side fender ground, passenger side fender ground. Probably a few more I am missing.
