Question Jacob

I'm a new member.I Have a 2000 Dodge Dakota with 260,000 miles.Transmission Just died while driving.I't had no noise or issues prior to quitting,It's a 3.9 engine with automatic Trans.Lost all gears and reverse but the engine starts and runs fine.Any suggestions on what happened.

lost hydraulic pressure more than likely. Could be loss of mechanical pump or electrical pressure control solenoid.

Either way at 260,000 miles, if it's never been rebuilt before, that's amazing. Mine had burned up 3 times before 180K.

Could be the pump like others have said. How's the fluid level and condition?

Should be an easy find it you want to check a boneyard for replacement. It should be the 42RE.

Have you checked the fluid level? Made sure the drive shaft is still attached?

Forgot about failed u-joints and dropping the shaft. It's not common, but I've seen it.
