Default Engine swaps

I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota 2wd with a 3.7. I was wondering if I could take the engine out of it and put it in to a 2005 Dodge Dakota 4wd 4.7. Would it fit and what else I would have to swap?

so you want to pull a V8 and put a V6 in its place? Sounds backwards. I have had 4 or 5 1st gen Dakotas and Im on my 1st 2nd gen. Have only had my 99 for 3 months barely, and my last 3, 1st gens (still have one of these) in a row have been 318 trucks, the ones before were 3.9s. I sold off my 94 shortbed/reg cab when the 1st of these 318 trucks became available..... the truck that this one got sold for, got wrecked way beyond hope of repair, and 3 trucks later I still miss that one the most. That one was a 93 clubcab, bought with a dead trans, I converted it to a 5 speed. 20 MPG all the time out of a V8.... and I wasn't always nice to it either.... I haven't touched that with any of my 3.9 powered rigs/ but man, the difference in power available is sure noticeable.
My 92 club cab went down on me, and I got talked out of fixing it by my wife and adult son. trans died after 226K. Body was still great. I went out and replaced the 92 with a 99 club cab with a 3.9.... and especially pulling my popup, the MPG is no better with the 6 than with the 8s, but hit any little rise in the road, and the extra 2 cylinders is definitely noticeable.
