Error Code P0700
I have a 2000, 4.7L. Googling around I haven't been
able to tell much, it isn't accompanied by
another code like many people are saying it
should be since it is general. I only just got
the truck a couple weeks ago and it wasn't
having the issue at the time, but it needs to
be inspected so I need to get the code cleared
(and more importantly fix this issue).
The truck is slipping out of reverse, it has
only happened 3 times now but I'm also not
reversing all the time. It has not had this
issue in drive.
It was originally just showing a code for the
crankshaft sensor so I replaced that, the check
engine light didn't go off for the sensor and
was now showing 3 codes, with the other 2
relating to the exhaust which does have a large
leak I'm fixing. I scanned again and it showed
no codes yet the light stayed on, so I tried
using the built-in reader by turning the key 3
times, and got just P0700 and that's where I'm
at now. I've checked the fluid and it's fine,
the right amount and a good red color. Sorry
for the long post with little info, any
suggestions would be appreciated.

P0700 indicates a fault in the transmission controller (EATX) - that's it. You need a reader (DRBIII or equivalent) that can connect to the EATX to read it.
A good transmission shop or dealer can read it. You do have an active fault.

Any updates? I have a similar issue/problem any help:
01 Dakota 4x4 crew slt with 45RFE tranny 85k original miles.
had tranny drained/filled and replaced filters at the Dodge Dealership 6 months ago 75K
driving the other day and it did the following
threw code for P0700 and P0320 goes into limp mode. Replaced crank shaft sensor drive short distance and vehicle stalled.
Checked tranny fluid and it was two quarts low (NO LEAKS ANYWHERE) added fluid
went to drive it and P0700 comes on with P0725. Transmission speed input sensor. replaced the input sensor codes went off.
drove again and it threw P0320 and P0700 again. replaced the crankshaft sensor with OEM and all codes cleared on their own.
Drove less 10 miles and limp mode again. Over drive and all gears work great until limp mode then no first gear.
Order a new computer ECM/PCM cheaper then going to dodge and no go. only code I'm getting now is the P0700 nothing else.
It drives and shifts great no slipping until limp mode and CEL P0700 and then first gear is gone. reset code and it drives great.
ANY IDEAS?
Also Dodge wants $110 for diagnosis if Dodge hooks to computer will it give them more description on the generic P0700 code? If not my OBD tells me that
