Front Disc brakes
Looking for the clearance specs between the brake pad and the adapter frame. The abutment clips take up the wear, but don't want to set them too tight that they lock (freeze) when hot.
Can you explain a bit better? It's not like the brakes are adjustable. What does set them too tight mean?
I am rebuilding the front disc brakes on my 2000 Dodge Dakota with 120,000 miles. The new brake pads come with a kit of abutment clips (0.010", 0.015", 0.020", 0.025" thick). If you install the new pads in the sliding adapter frame with no caliper the front to back end play of the pad ends to the frame is about 0.030". The abutment clips snap onto the edge of the pad ends to reduce this end play; take the "wear" back to MFG specs. I have checked Motor's, Chilton's and factory shop manuals for the correct specs and found nothing; was hoping someone on the forum could shed some light on this?
