So I have an 01 dakota with the 4.7 litre. I have 2 fuel injectors that are leaking into the cylinder when the engine is not running. It makes the fuel line lose pressure after about 1 hour. Would you even try cleaning them or do you think I should just replace them? If I need to replace them do I need to do them all at once? Or can I replace just the two known bads? If I can just clean them do you have a good method for this? I'm currently thinking about just using a battery and some carb cleaner. Thanks in advance.

 

I would replace all of them. They all live in the same environment, so, if two of them have gone bad, you can bet the rest of them aren't far behind.

 

Think I should even bother trying to clean them?

 

Well, they are 19 years old. Old enough to vote, but, not old enough to drink or smoke.

 

Are you sure they are leaking into the cylinder, and not draining back at the fuel pump? The check valve back there can tend to fail.

 

Well I know that the spark plugs are getting wet on two specific cylinders. And that the fuel line is losing pressure pretty quickly. Other than that it could be both sides honestly. I'll just save some cash and get some new ones.
