Well replacing the plug and coil on cylinder 7 fixed the check engine light issue. The old plug was not loose or broken but it was quite brown. It was like brown on one side pretty bad but the other side was white and new looking. After driving it for awhile to/from work today and turning the engine off/on a few times the check engine light went off. I'll replace the rest of the plugs tomorrow if I can when it's warmer. It's going to be a pain though since some A/C piping/tubes are in the way.

I don't recall any real issues when replacing them. Moving heater lines out the way is no big deal.

Right, heater lines, my bad.

The rattling is still there. I might just say screw it and have my mechanic check for the rattle, lol. I live in the middle of nowhere NY with no garage and don't feel like crawling around on the ground looking for something loose etc. In the mean time I'll try higher octane gas and whatever I can look for on top of the engine bay.

Thanks for the help guys.

Update - 93 octane did not fix the rattle. I'll have to get it checked out by a mechanic for sure. Thanks for all your help guys.

Another thing to try - remove the fan belt, see if the rattle is still there. If not, it's a belt driven accessory. Don't run it like this for long as the water pump isn't turning.

I don't know if I can really do that because I'd have to take it for a drive and up a hill to hear the rattle so the belt would be off for awhile.

My bad, I missed where it's only rattling under load. Probably not a belt driven accessory.

What if you have someone stand on the brakes and mash the gas in varying degrees. That's load without going anywhere. Stand off the side when observing though. Don't get run over.
