Hi there I new to this forum posting. But here’s my story. I bought a 2003 dodge Dakota 4.7 v8 for 100$ it had a blown engine. So I got a 2000 Dakota 4.7 v8 with a running engine. So I swapped the 2000 into the 03 but after everything was hooked up and turning over but won’t start. Found out the 03 engine had a 32 tooth crank ring and the 00 is a 16 tooth.
Has anyone come across this problem?
Is there anyway to fix this without changing the crank ring?

No way around it. Have to take it apart and switch tone rings.

That means rebuilding the engine as the tone ring in inside the engine case.

The harness is electrically different. 16 tooth PCM has 3 connectors on the JTEC programming language, 32 tooth has 4 connectors on the Next Generation Controller programming language. NGC controller has a much faster CPU that can process the faster pulse speed of having twice the teeth.
