Default Need some advice pertaining to an '03 R/T

There is a fella here in our tiny town, that is constantly buying retired police vehicles, and occasionally some interesting stuff.

Anyway, short story long, I have an opportunity to pick up a 2003 Dakota R/T, for $2500. Mileage is 153k, and it has a few minor dings and dents. It runs I know because hes moved it around the parking lot at his place. I just haven't heard it run or gotten to drive it, but I will after this damn Democrat virus fizzles out.

Is the price good? Any things I need to check especially careful? Anyone here got some dyno numbers for various mods? I forgot to look myself, because we were in a rush, but does it have a true dual exhaust system ? Any sound files or videos of aforementioned trucks?

I'm sorry for all the questions. I'm anxious because our son turned 16 in March and it would be a project for us to do together.

I paid 5K for a stripper 6cyl ext cab 2wd a couple of years ago. The 2500 dollar ones in my area were trashed and showed obvious signs of wreck repair. I was kind of caught out needing a truck on short notice so I paid the premium price, but only because the truck itself was straight and the frame didn't show any signs of ever being damaged.

So far as the details, if you are getting it as a project I wouldn't worry too much about it. Make it what you want. These trucks aren't anything special in the collector world so there's not going to be a lot of value on the other side, so no need to stick to stock. If you do a search for "2003 dodge dakota specs" a number of sites will come up to tell you what the R/T has. And, this site (link below) has a LOT of information about the 2nd Gen Dakota and Durango in general. Collectability aside, these are some really impressive little trucks. Dodge put a lot of thought into them. I kinda wish I'd have looked at them when they were new, but I was a rabid GM man back then and wouldn't even look at anything that wasn't on a Chevy lot.
