Accumulator freezing
99 4x4 5.2 AUTO, 120k, truck in great shape. I just replaced the A/C clutch, works fine now, AC was extremely cold for a few days, then I took a spin on the interstate and it just quit being cool, fan speed didn't help, so I turned it off.
I checked it with I got to where I was going, accumulator was completely frozen, and ice on the compressor lines. Let is sit overnight, and checked the Freon pressure in it with an old charge can guage next moring, in the green.
but it did it again on the way home. So I googled some info, and it listed low Freon levels as common culprit, so I bought a can and added bit, and later the whole can. pressure in green says about 35. but it did it again, so I
googled more info, which listed some pressure switches as possible problems, so I am looking here for some help,...

Thanks for the assist, it turns out that the new clutch I installed was engaging 24/7, and caused the already leaking low pressure port to leak even more.
I got a buddy works at a ford dealership, and we went to their shop. We evacuated the system and while this was happening I applied some locktite on the
nut holding the magnetic plate on the A/C clutch because I was going to loosen the tension up and didn't want it coming off. Then we replaced the leaking
shrader valve on the low pressure port; refilled and checked the system out, I had plenty of Freon and badda bing, 42 degrees blowing on max A/C and no leak.
Mopar to ya.
