Try using some variety of combustion chamber cleaner. Seafoam, or something like that. I know you've already done it once.... try it again.

Tried the sea foam and it’s still pinging man. This is my dakota i swapped a 5.9 into before it had a 3.9. Got my pcm from my parts durango 03 5.9 and had it flashed when i mailed it to b&g chrysler, if u think that raises any red flags. I’ll try the reset, is it just unplug battery and turn the key on 3 times?Originally Posted by HeyYou
Did you reset the PCM??

Also just put in cooler spark plugs people were saying might work. Didn’t work for me. So i’ve done the plenum, sea foam treatments, cooler spark plugs and reset the pcm. My plug wires distributor rotor are all new bc i just built this engine a couple months ago. Everything is new. I have yet to try higher octane thoOriginally Posted by Aaron H

93 octane helps it a lot Originally Posted by Aaron H

Hhhmmm.... Can you read live data? I would be interested to see what fuel trims look like, and if it's available, injector duty cycle. Wonder if they screwed up the tune?

Considering i just built this engine, i think my timing is to advanced. Any other way to retard the timing without having to grind my crank sensor bolt holes?Originally Posted by HeyYou
That could be spark knock. Disable the PCV system, plug the port in both the intake, (for the valve) and the hose that goes to the air box. Take off the oil cap, start the engine, let it run at idle. Check the oil fill hole. Got a breeze coming out? Or is there vacuum there?

Need a DRB to see where you are at. If the Crank and Cam sensor go more than 10 degrees out of sync, the PCM will not allow engine to start.Originally Posted by Aaron H
