There is a TSB for the heater blend door relating to this issue I believe. Nothing major, I just turn up the stereo till the truck warms up.

i just bought my 99 dakota sport 4x4 stick shift, and it seems to be whistling really bad, and even after it warms up its still pretty squeky. how can i tell if this is something big i should be worried about?or how do i stop it? i think the noise is coming from the belts. Also, like you guys said before, it has been pretty cold lately, and snowing a lot, could it just be the belt is wet?sorry for my ignorance, im still very new to being a truck owner.

is it a whistiling noise or a sqeucking noise and does it do it if you turn your vent *** to off? also how is the door seals? and door clousre good and tight? The belts would make more of a sqeucking noise. To test it just pop the hood with the engine on and pull the throttel up give it a littel juice get them pullys going and see if it makes any noise. I understand are trucks are a whistler in the cold weather thought acording to a post fruther up in here hope that helps any.

Also since you say its new check to see if the previous owner didnt put on a throttel body spacer as they make a whistling noise as well.
