Default Can anyone tell me what these are?

I

Thru this in to give an idea of size.

I could sure use so help identifying these. I'm having problems with sludge in my 2001 Dakota Quad, 4x4, Sport with the 4.7. A while back I pulled the PS valve cover to investigate a tick. When I got in there I found a partially plugged oil port by the timing chain. I assumed it was restricting the oil to the chain which was causing my ticket. I very carefully cleaned the port paying close attention to not letting any loose sludge particles fall into the motor. After reassembling everything I installed a manual oil pressure gauge and water temp gauge because I'm just not a fan on lines. I "T"d the O.P. gauge so it didn't cause the engine light to stay on. I then drained some oil and added a qt of diesel fuel and let it idle about 10 minutes. I drained the oil and changed the filter and refilled it with yellow Pennzoil 5 30w. I started it and immediately the O.P. shot to 85 pounds and the gauge on the dash was way up there. I shut it off and decided to get anouther gauge just to be sure it wasn't a faulty gauge. Installed anouther new gauge and it did the same thing. I figured me or the diesel had loosened and caused sludge to block an oil port cause pressure to back up and go sky high. I then decided to flush the motor with a degreaser and hot water letting it sit full in between then draining and rinsing with hot water. In doing this I flushed the pieces of ? That's where I'm stuck. I could sure use some help making a positive I.D. so I can figure out where to go from here.

Looks to be part of the timing chain guide but it looks small for that.

Sure looks like pieces of a timing chain tensioner guide, confirmed by your finding it by the timing chain oil port.

if that is parts of the chain guide and or tensioner arms they must be completely gone chopped into little pieces. You should cut open the old oil filter see what's inside I use a sharp wood chisel and hammer to cut the top off.
not easy but works

I was looking at the guides too, but those pieces don't seem to match any of that. I swear it's something I've seen before, just can't remember what.

Angle grinder makes short work of it.

I found all 3 pieces in the oil pan and they don't appear to have a scratch on them. I'm I'm thinking right there's not a lot of places they could have come from other then timing area that they could make it to the pan without getting chewed up. Thing is I've looked at probably every brand of parts and can't find anything that looks like these as far as timing parts anyways. I just hate to bust into it only to find it's fine! Also haven't started it to see if I hear anything cause I don't want to make things worse! What would you all do next? Cause I'm not getting anywhere my way!

Another question I have is do these have anything to do with my mysterious spike in oil pressure? It was normal before attempting to clean out the sludge then after running a qt of diesel in my oil, draining and filter change new oil & filter and my OP went through the roof. Related or a hole other issue?
sure appreciate everyone's input.

If your oil pressure was good, then it spiked and stayed, it indicates that something is plugging an oil passage near the oil sending unit. Something made of plastic has come apart in there and is spreading around the engine, and the more you run it the more likely it is that whatever the plastic was holding is going to scatter and when it does you'll be up for a long block.
