I have a 2002 Dakota 3.9 that keeps burning the inside of the dist cap and when it gets humid out like rain or whatever it won't start. If I replace it it will run for a couple weeks then does it again. what causes this and how do I set the timeing as it seems to miss a little. it has new wires and plugs

What area of the cap is burning? Have you checked the mating surface of the distributor for defects? Have you tried WD-40?
