New 4.7 in 2000 Dakota with no compression
I have just installed a rebuilt 4.7 from a motor shop in California. It has had issues from the shipping, to a broken motor mount bolt in the block. I then discovered that the #3 and #4 spark plug holes in the head had bad threads.
Now that the engine is together I followed the start up procedure. I pumped up the oil, installed the plugs, purged the fuel rail, and nothing! The truck won't start. I checked the compression on #1 and #4 cylinders and I have no
compression. Does this mean that they have the timing 180 off? I'm not looking forward to taking this thing apart again so any ideas would be appreciated.
