Default 97 Dakota SLT 5.2 V8 4x4 suspension help

The front suspension on the Dakota is about shot.
I figure now is the time to upgrade and I'm wondering what people recommended.

Its no longer a daily driver so i plan on setting it up for getting to and from the lease, filling feeders, and hopefully some moderate 4x4 / overland trails. Not rock crawling.
water crossing capability is a plus.

I'd like to have as much clearance as possible without making it a pain to drive.

Currently have 245 / 70 / R16 street tires.
I've run 31s (I think) with the torsion key cranked up a couple inches. I plan on new all terrain tires.

Is there something better than OEM replacement shocks?
Is there a lift kit besides the tuff country 5.5 in kit?
Has anyone used that set up?
Does anyone have a good shop in the Houston or Dallas areas?

Appreciate your help and input

I have 31's on mine and I know the speedometer will read 10-15% higher.

Yeah, when I got this truck, I had 31s, and the torsion bar was cranked up. I'm looking to go a little bigger. There's a custom shop here that can offer a custom solution.... put it has custom prices....

stuffing big tires in there Will use up stock suspension parts faster.
I have used Monroe Reflex for a small upgrade, imo. and resonable price
