Default Polyurethane bushings too long?

Has anyone had this issue where the poly bushing bottoms out on the factory washer of the cross shaft but still sticks out above the metal collar over a quarter of an inch ?

Cool

Why do people still buy into the Polyurethane bushings lie? If you look into Polyurethane bushings they are garbage and not better than rubber.

They are firmer...... and noisier. Poly transmits more noise/vibration to the rest of the vehicle, rubber makes for a better/quieter ride. It just depends on what you want. Comfort, or performance.

I know on my Firebird Formula, changing the suspension over to poly bushings tightened it up in a big way. The ride wasn't quite as nice, but for 'spirited' driving, poly is indeed much better than rubber.

You may have, but Polyurethane bushings are like that they are not molded into the shell like a rubber bushing they are jush pushed into the shell. how they overcome this is smashing the Polyurethane bushing into the shell.

So that's why its sticking out so much the big washer and nut crush or push it into the shell with force clamping the Polyurethane bushing in the shell.

But that's Polyurethane bushings main flaw they are not a one piece part like a rubber bushing.

This is why they squeak the bushing is not a one piece part so they float in the shell.

My guess is Polyurethane will not adhere to the shell as it would break up if it was a one piece part its too stiff a material but if it floats in the shell it can be used.

Cool

The average Joe will not need Polyurethane bushings if in competition or racing Polyurethane has benefits it stiffens things up.

But its not practical for a daily driver or just a fun truck its for competition as it has problems.
