Where Is my EGR valve?
Good morning!
Hello all, and thank you for taking the time to read my thread.
I have a 97 Dakota V8 5.2L and I cannot find the EGR location to save my life. Does anyone know where it may be?

It'll look like this. The gold part should be bolted onto one of the exhaust manifolds.

Does the 97 even HAVE an EGR valve? They went away on the full size trucks in 96. (same engine.) If you have one, it will be at the back of the intake manifold, just to the passenger side of the distributor.
It may not. But, if it did it would look like the picture I provided, it would definitely be attached to one of the exhaust manifolds, most likely towards the front of the engine, and the gold disk looking thing would be about the size of your closed fist. In other words, if you have one you wouldn't be able to overlook it and if you can't find it with a quick inspection you probably don't have one.
Yea, I’m aware of what it looks like, which is why I was so stumped. The Haynes manual says it has one, autozone and advanced both show it has one, as well as calling the dodge dealership and they also said that my vehicle should have one. I’ve come to the decision that someone either upgraded and removed it, or they Jerry rigged it somehow.
Thanks for the help, buddy.

If it had one at all, it would be right behind the "keg" part of the intake, just to the passenger side of the distributor. There would be a pipe from the passenger exhaust manifold, to the back of the intake, right below it. Being a 97 though, I doubt it ever had one. You can look back there, and see if the egr port is blocked off, but, on my 96, which didn't have EGR, The mounting boss was there, but, had a block-off plate on it, exhaust port on the intake had a pipe plug in it, and the passenger exhaust manifold had no provision for the pipe.
