Default Cracked Transmission - Help

1999 Dakota Sport 4x4 - Auto - 3.9L
I did some searching but did not come up with solid answers
For a while I had some shaking while accelerating past 20mph (goes away when not on the gas). I checked the engine mounts and they seem fine. While I was checking the trans mount I noticed that the trans was cracked right before it bolts to the transfer case. Not sure if the shaking caused that or if the shaking if from that. My questions are
  • I am not 100% sure what transmission I have (32RH or a 42RE or a 44RE)?
  • Should I need to replace the entire transmission, replace just the section between what appears to be the main transmission and the transfer case. I thought it was an adapter or maybe overdrive. Or thoughts on getting it welded and if that would even hold up.
Thanks

Cracked transmission - Right side trans, left side transfer case

I think that's part of the Overdrive housing..... but yeah, you can replace just that part. Run your vin here, should tell you which trans you have. It doesn't like little letters though, so, all caps please.

@HeyYou - That's exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much. It's a 42RE Transmission and that is the overdrive. Looks like around 200 bucks for a used one.

Yep as Hey you said it looks like overdrive..I replaced my overdrive years ago an its still doing well.Used one under 100 an not too tough a job.
Yes be sure to look at that inner spring an maybe adjust the bands an update the sensors ..
That accumulator spring is a common problem in these.

do you have any other pics of it?
