Dakota overhead trip computer install
I have an 03 Dodge Dakota that I have upgraded the overhead courtesy light to a trip computer removed from a 01 Dakota. It worked at time of removal. Everything works except for the temperature function which displays - - I have checked the wiring and sensor for temperature and they are operating properly. I have been unable to find out much about troubleshooting to find out why.
There is a scanner DRB-3 I believe can be used to program it. They are outdated and most dealers don’t have them anymore. I found a dealer that has one but says it is intermittent.
It costs$130 to “ flash it”. ??? Whether it works or not. If anyone has any information that would be helpful I would be grateful. Thanks

OP, I don't recall them requiring any configs. Was pretty sure it pulls the data off the databus organically, alongside fuel mileage data.
OP, do you have the long or short OHC? Because I have an 01 qc, and installed the trip from another and it didnt require any programming, all i had to do was reset it and do the learn procedure from the owners manual. Also when I purchased mine from the recycling yard, there are 2 variants of the long console, one is 7wire and one is 6wire based, depending on the bus.
