Default 02 Dodge Dakota 4.7

Hey Guys,
My truck started hesitating to crank, and it's getting worse. Sometimes I have to pump the gas pedal for it to start up. I've replaced the fuel pump, plugs, coils, crankshaft position sensor, idle air control valve, and throttle position sensor. It still has the same problem; sometimes I have to pump the accelerator to crank it. Once in a while it idles rough; especially when idling low at a stop sign. It has no other issues. The last thing I could think it would be is the injectors. IdkAlso, there are no check engine lights.

Sounds like you're describing a hard starting condition, not cranking. Hesitating to crank means the starter is not turning the engine. Hope you used Mopar sensors, esp the crankshaft sensor as aftermarkets have been known to cause issues. If everything you replaced is kosher, then yeah... I'd look at the injectors. Unplug them one by one and see which makes no difference in the way it runs... that would be a bad one. Also, I had an issue with extended cranking once....I was sure it would be the fuel pump but it turned out to be a flaky fuel pump relay.

Welcome to DodgeForum...

What about the MAP & cam sensors? I recently swapped both cam & crank and used Standard Motor Products sensors w/o issue, agreed with Dogdgevity on the aftermarkets, I had issues with NTK cam & crank sensors on a Ram I own, OEM had zero issues. Figured I'd give SMP a shot on the 4.7 since the sensors are pretty cheap now.

I would swap both the MAP & cam next... but start with the MAP. What I found thru forum searches is when the MAP ages the diaphragm that is the barrier between atmosphere and the intake manifold hardens and the sensor no longer is accurate. On EVERY key on then startup the ECU will poll the MAP sensor and use it to set operating parameters for how the motor will run. If the MAP is so far out of wack, it may think your at a different altitude then where you are and cause problems.
