Default Interior lights stay on all the time

I have a 2003 Dakota, 2-door, automatic, with the small V8 and full time 4WD. I have a problem with my interior lights. The DoorAjar light on the dash works correctly, goes on when either door is ajar and off when they are closed. The cargo light also works correctly being turned on when the dimmer switch is turned all the way up. But the three headliner lights stay on all the time, doors open or closed. I can turn them off by turning the dimmer switch all the way down, but otherwise they are on. This isn’t a problem during the day because I turn them off with the dimmer switch but at night with the headlights on I really need the dimmer switch turned up to see the dash lights and then the interior lights are on and that’s no good. I changed the headlight/dimmer switch module but that didn’t correct the problem. Any ideas?

Check the door jamb switches. Get some from a junkyard and swap them out. Also disconnect your battery cables overnight to reset the CTM. I'd do the latter first, since it costs nothing.
