03 & 04 Dakota's use Bosch brakes and 03 Durango's use TRW brakes, they are a bit larger.

The spindles are the same on both, the calipers and rotors are different, just have to get either 2wd or 4wd spindles depending on you're truck.
So 2wd only can fit 2wd and 4wd can only fit 4wd spindles, calipers and rotors are the same on 2wd and 4wd trucks

I also wire wheel the caliper before doing anything else to remove scale and show up any cracks. This is why I recommend replacing with new if possible.

i'm with the others. Just get new calipers.

If you have a friend with a FirstCall (Oreilly Commercial) account, price is about 40% off for a pair/set at shop cost.

Finished this up yesterday, once the pads were bedded, brakes were better than previous ones as expected.

Picked up a replacement set of calipers from a JY, flushed them out, cleaned out the slide pin rubber cups and greased them with a synthetic caliper grease (slide way better after being cleaned) and good to go. One of the calipers was a rebuilt one and the slide pin was really hard to move. Motivated by what I found I am going to yank the calipers off the Ram and service them on the bench... cylinder flush an slide pin cleaning. I figure I will do that at the same time I do the axle joints.

Yes, it's always good to know how things are, considering age and wear, so i should take care of the brakes on the Ram when you're at it.
Couldn't hurt and you feel a lot better knowing all is good.

Which brakes you took for the Dakota, Dakota or Durango brakes ?

The rams front brakes have probably 100k on them by now, it was way back in 2017 when I had them swapped by a shop (no place to work on it). Seeing the crap that came out of the calipers, I will bet there is a lot of crap in the ones on the Ram, what I am curious on though is how much with me flushing the brakes every 50k miles.

On the Dak, went with 2003 Durango brakes.
