Lost gears after transfer case replacement
Heya Guys and Gals!
So, I have a 97 Dakota 5.2 v8 and recently had my second transfer case **** out on me. I just purchased a new one and installed it per manufacturers specs. Upon attempting a test drive, when i put in Drive, there is no response to the gas pedal and if i let off of the brake, it will roll backwards as if it is in Neutral. After about 5 seconds, it will jump into gear with a pretty big thud, then repeat the no response and roll backwards. All fluids are topped off, all nuts and bolts tightened to spec. The new case did not come with an output speed sensor so I removed the one from the old case, "gear"?? and all. Maybe that has to be put in a certain way?? Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks so much
