Default parking brake cable removal

I am replacing the blown up rearend in my 99 dakota. Everything seems fairly straightforward except the parking brake cables.

I am used to the old school two cables into one with a triangular plate. I can't seem to figure out how these cables disconnect up at the frame rail.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks
Steve

You have to unthread the adjuster I believe. It's just a big spring. Take the nut and spring off, and the assembly comes off. It's up at the front of the cab.

I am taking the cables loose at the rear, somewhere near the left rear tire. Or I can take them loose on the brake backing plate, but don't really want to go there. Never had good luck taking drum brakes apart. Apart is easy- getting it all back together is the hard part!

won't quite work that way. They are crimped together/not servicable at that end. Have to unhook the cables from the brake drum actuators, or take them loose at the pedal. No in-between.

You probably don't even need to fully disassemble the drums to get the cable out either. Although I'm sure it would be easier that way.
