Default Transmission question

Hello my transmission on my 2002 dodge Dakota quad cab awd 4x4 with the 5.9 engine went out. From all my research online it’s a 46re I’m looking online either to take to shop to rebuild or buy a rebuilt one. My transmission casing shows 067-1 I can’t find anything on that number only transmission I find only are 064-xx or like 238-xx what is the deal with these numbers? I’d also like to build my transfer case but idk if I need a special kit because it’s the awd model the t case says 244-d. are these two easy to rebuild? Thanks in advance

The P number is the full part number. Anything 2001-2004 will be same connectors. Or you can order a rebuild kit. They aren't hard to rebuild, but not easy. You have to make sure certain shafts get clocked properly going back together, especially when putting the O/D housing on.

Transfercases aren't bad to rebuild at all.

also anything to watch out for with the awd transfer case for rebuild (I’m guessing that’s what makes it awd but I don’t really know haha )

The New Process transfer cases are quite simple chain drive setups. You can find tons of guides on youtube if you get stuck.

067 is probably Julian date.... (67th day of the year.) It's a 46RE, and likely has the five wire trans range sensor? You can rebuild it yourself really, several members on here have done so, never having been in an auto trans before. There are a couple REALLY good video series on youtube, that walks you thru the whole process. Only tricky part, is that humongous spring in the O/D unit. Need a press for that.

Not 'any', there were minor changes over the years, and the range sensor is the big one, So, I suspect you will need one that is *newer*.... with the provision for the larger sensor.

Transmissioncenter.net is a good source.
